The interventions at Stella Maris College aim to modernize and enhance the original 1938 school structure, transforming it into a contemporary environment for learning and exploration. These interventions encompass various upgrades, including the establishment of the scouts group headquarters, extension of amenities, and the addition of connection bridges.

SMC SCOUTS HQ

Inspired by Baden Powell's vision of the Scouts movement as a space where children can embark on adventures while learning essential life skills, the design of the Lookout reflects a balance between freedom, responsibility, play, and work. Serving as an intermediary space, it connects the realms of childhood and adolescence, bridging the gap between the junior and senior school playgrounds. The structure, resembling a dreamy treehouse with towering pitched roofs, winding staircases, and adventure facilities like zip lining, abseiling, and climbing walls, is intended to echo Baden Powell's ethos.

AMENITIES EXTENSION

Situated within the central courtyard of the original 1938 college building, the proposed amenities extension offers improved functional uses for both students and educators, accommodating the growing number of prospective students and technological advancements. Constructed using traditional local craftsmanship, the block is carefully integrated into the central courtyard, respecting the surrounding facades and existing vegetation.
